How Your Website Design Impacts Lead Generation

The process of lead generation typically begins when a website's visitor clicks on a call-to-action (CTA) on your web pages or blog posts. They are taken to a landing page which has a form that is used to collect their information. Once the visitor fills it out and submits it, they are taken to a thank-you page.

Here are some of the ways that your website design can impact leads:

Optimized Lead Generation Steps

You can get the most benefit from your visitors' interest by ensuring that your offers are relevant to the page they are on. Once your visitor is on your site, pay attention to the path they take to becoming a lead. If their path does not end at the desired point, you need to optimize it. This can be as simple as changing a link to a button or asking different questions on your forms. Consider using contrasting colors for your CTAs and more landing pages. Also, consider having social sharing buttons on your thank-you pages. Thank-you emails can increase engagement rates and allow you to create highly customized CTAs. You can also use them to encourage social sharing.

Personalized CTAs

Use dynamic content so that you can customize your site to each of your visitors. They will see images and product options that are specifically geared to meet their interests and that are based on their previous purchases.

Before making any changes to your site, you should benchmark your present lead generation state before starting so that you can track the success of your efforts and spot the areas where you need to improve the most. Consider using a tool to assess your landing pages, CTAs and other sources. Look for a tool that will also provide you with feedback on how you can improve your content. In addition, you may also want to run internal reports to evaluate visits to landing pages, clicks on CTAs and shares of your thank-you pages so that you can see which ones are the best performers. You can then create more pages like them.
